About the programme

In the bachelors study program Animal Husbandry, students are prepared for comprehensive professional activities in animal production at the level of agricultural farms (concerns) and for works in breeding and breeders organizations. This study program prepares graduates of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools for practical employment in the field of livestock breeding on farms, family farms and concerns.
Graduates of this program have theoretical and practical knowledge of the breeding of individual species of livestock based on the theoretical foundations of zoology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and knowledge of biochemical processes and functions taking place in the body of animals. This knowledge is supplemented by knowledge of the principles of technology and technics of breeding, management, organization and economics of production, including quality assurance of production. Attention is also paid to the protection and health of animals, ethics of breeding, the relationship between man and animal, and the secondary functions of agricultural production with regard to environmental impacts and maintaining the character of landscape and its management.
Graduates find wide application in agricultural primary production, or in service and consulting organizations, suppliers and breeders associations. They meet the requirements for employment in organizational functions of breeders organizations and companies and companies focused on animal nutrition and reproduction. The best graduates can continue to improve their qualifications in a follow-up masters degree. The study program is taught in Czech. The foreign applicant has the opportunity to take Czech language course for the first time and thus obtain a certificate of knowledge of the Czech language, at least category B1. An intensive Czech course for foreigners is provided by the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia in Č. Budějovice, Department of Czech Studies. A similar course is also organized by Charles University in Prague, the Institute of Language and Vocational Training, the Poděbrady and Mariánské Lázně study centers. The second option is often used by so-called government scholarship holders, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

How to apply

Without exams, based on the results of studies at high school. The condition is a completed secondary education completed by a graduation exam. The specific conditions of the admission procedure are specified by the Dean of the Faculty.
