About the programme

The bachelor's study program Agroecology combines the factors of classical agricultural management with an emphasis on its sustainability. This is a practically oriented bachelor's degree program, where the student learns the robust basics of agriculture with an overlap into the issues of organic farming, agricultural landscape management and related activities. Students can also choose subjects from the field of social agriculture or activities related to agricultural activities such as freshwater fishery or wildlife management. It is possible to complete a study in the Agroecology branch with a bachelor's degree and pursue a career in agricultural enterprises and related fields or to continue your studies at the master's level. During the three years of the standard period of study, students complete both general subjects in relation to the biological base of agriculture and practically agriculturally oriented subjects. Complementary to the extension of their qualifications are subjects focused on the management of the agricultural landscape or organic agriculture. Of course, it is possible to study the semester abroad at partner universities or complete internship abroad. The study program is guaranteed by the Department of Agroecosystems of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The study program is taught in Czech. The foreign applicant has the opportunity to take Czech language course for the first time and thus obtain a certificate of knowledge of the Czech language, at least category B1. An intensive Czech course for foreigners is provided by the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia in Č. Budějovice, Department of Czech Studies. A similar course is also organized by Charles University in Prague, the Institute of Language and Vocational Training, the Poděbrady and Mariánské Lázně study centers. The second option is often used by so-called government scholarship holders, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
