On Thursday 18 May and Friday 19 May, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice hosted meetings of the Presidium of the Board of Higher Education Institutions and the Forum of Chairs of Academic Senates of Higher Education Institutions.
The meeting of distinguished representatives of public universities began with a meeting of the BHI Presidium on Thursday 18 May 2023 at 10:00 in the large meeting room of the Rector's Office of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The opening remarks and welcome were given by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, prof. PhDr. Bohumil Jiroušek, Dr., as well as the Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, prof. Mgr. Jaroslav Miller, MA, Ph.D., the Chief Director of the Section of Higher Education, Science and Research of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Prof. PaedDr. Radka Wildová, CSc., and the Chairman of the Academic Senate of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice JUDr. Rudolf Hrubý.
The meeting of the Forum of Chairs of Academic Senates of Higher Education Institutions followed in the afternoon and continued on Friday 19 May. During the meeting, important topics such as the amendment of the Higher Education Act, academic self-government and its levels, wage conditions in tertiary education and financing of HEIs in the context of the increase in energy prices, the impact of inflation and demographic developments were discussed.
