The press conference for the Mattoni České Budějovice Running Festival 2024 took place on 28 May at the City Hall on Přemysl Otakar II Square. During the conference, the main points of the festival were presented, including a new event – the 5 km race.

Rector of the University of South Bohemia prof. Ing. Pavel Kozák, Ph.D., spoke about the significant support and partnership of the University for this event. He emphasized that dozens of volunteers, including students from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, come from the University and will be helping on the race route as medical staff. In addition, physiotherapists will be on hand to provide support and assistance to runners after the race. At the same time, for the first time ever this year, the USB leadership will participate in a relay run as part of the Mattoni 1/2Marathon.

In addition to the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, the press conference was also attended by the Mayor of České Budějovice, doc. Dr. Ing. Dagmar Škodová Parmová. She spoke about the benefits of the festival for the city and emphasized that she herself actively participates in selected runs. She also pointed out the importance of the event for the local community and tourism. Her presence underlined the importance of the festival for České Budějovice not only in terms of sport, but also in the social life of the city in relation to the title of European Capital of Culture 2028. This was also confirmed by Mgr. František Talíř, First Deputy Governor, who emphasized the benefits of the festival for tourism as well.

The festival will take place on 1 June 2024 and includes various races such as the Mattoni 1/2Marathon, relay runs, the USB Rector's Cup Run, the dm family mile and the dm bambini run. The start and finish of the main race will be located on Přemysl Otakar II Square, where runners and spectators can admire the beauty of the historic centre of České Budějovice.
