The University of South Bohemia has again succeeded in the prestigious World University Ranking THE
Times Higher Education (THE) published the Emerging Economies University Rankings last week. The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice has reached the place 201 – 250.
Times Higher Education (THE) published the Emerging Economies University Rankings last week. The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice has reached the 201 – 250 place, among 533 universities from 47 countries (the Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa). Among 17 Czech universities included in the ranking and despite the fact that USB is in this ranking a newcomer, the University of South Bohemia has reached great success and gained 4-5 place.
„We are very happy that we were able to follow our success in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, that was published in September last year. In the previous ranking, the University of South Bohemia got for the first time among 1000 world’s best universities. Good positioning of USB in international and Czech rankings proves the quality and rising international prestige of the University of South Bohemia“ says, prof. PhDr. Bohumil Jiroušek, Dr., the Vice-rector for Internal Evaluation USB.
The universities are in the regional ranking evaluated on the basis of 13 indicators in five categories in following fields: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.
Except the main and the regional ranking, the University of South Bohemia has also succeeded in rankings by subject, that are determined by THE in 11 fields. In the field of Life Sciences USB reached 301 - 400 place and the university was also successful in the field of Clinical, pre-clinical & health.
The global high level of the University of South Bohemia is also proved by placing in other world rankings e.g. in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2019 (so-called the Shanghai Ranking), among 7 Czech universities included in the ranking USB reached the place 901 – 1000. Within the Shanghai Ranking USB was also evaluated in following fields:
- Field: Life Sciences; Subject: Biological Sciences: 401 -500 place
- Field: Life Sciences; Subject: Agricultural Sciences: 201-300 place
- Field: Life Sciences; Subject: Veterinary Sciences: 151-200 place
- Field: Natural Sciences; Subject: Ecology: 101-150 place
- Field: Engineering; Subject: Environmental Science & Engineering: 401-500 place
In another ranking – CWUR 2019-2020 (The Center for World University Rankings) is the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice on 1024th place and on 5th within the Czech Republic.
It is also important to mention the position of the University of South Bohemia in the regional ranking QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2019.
THE World University Rankings belongs together with QS World University Rankings and Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) to the most prestigious rankings in the world. Within THE World University Rankings 2020 were evaluated 1800 universities, 1396 out of them from 92 countries have been placed.
