By signing the documents on 5 June 2024, the university confirmed its participation and became a fresh member of the prestigious Association of Research Universities of the Czech Republic (AVUni), which brings together the best Czech universities. This important event not only opens the door to cooperation with leading domestic and international institutions but also strengthens the University's international prestige.
The Association of Research Universities brings together seven academic institutions covering the full spectrum of academic disciplines from the humanities to the technical sciences. Among its members are Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Technical University in Prague, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, Brno University of Technology, and now also the University of South Bohemia. Member universities are the guarantors of education for more than half of all university students and over 75% of all PhD students in the Czech Republic, confirming their dominant role in Czech higher education.
The signing of the documents was attended by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, prof. Ing. Pavel Kozák, Ph.D., and the rectors of six other universities. "I am convinced that quality education and excellent science are connected vessels, where one cannot go without the other. I believe that joining with high quality and similarly oriented universities in AVUni will be beneficial not only for our university, but it will also help Czech higher education as a whole to increase the quality of education and social relevance in the long term," said the USB Rector on this event.
By joining AVUni, the University of South Bohemia aims not only to improve the quality of its educational and research facilities, but also to contribute to the overall shift of Czech higher education towards international standards.
