5th International Week 2017
5th International Week (November 27, 2017 - December 1, 2017)
The objective of the International Week was to present the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice to foreign partners, but also to allow them to get new contacts, to exchange work experiences, to develop new projects and to conclude agreements.
For the 5th edition of the International Week, the University of South Bohemia welcolmed 25 colleagues from 11 countries (Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Spain) and from 18 different universities. Participants were mostly administrative workers in International Relations, Student affairs, Project Management, Marketing, Libraries, etc.
The core topic of the International Week was „30 years of Erasmus" and throughout the whole week different workshops and discussion sessions were held on such topics like internationalization, recognition of mobility abroad, recognition of diploma, International Credit Mobility, services for outgoing and incoming students and workers or marketing abroad.
The programme was also designed to present the highlights and excellent research projects of our university. Our international colleagues could visit the facilities and archives of the Academic Library but also individual faculties. At the Faculty of Agriculture they tasted the faculty´s beer of the Micro-brewery „Čtyrák“. They enjoyed a concert of the Big Band Symphonic Orchestra of the Faculty of Education. At the Faculty of Theology students sang old Christmas songs for them. At the Faculty of Science participants could meet experts from the Institute of Applied Sciences (dept. of Robotics and Embedded systems) who presented them the ongoing projects and even let them fly the hexacopter (drone) and finally the scientists from the department of Zoology showed them the laboratories of the reaserch of fruit flies and the subterranean rodents (molerats), which are the largest labs of this kind in Europe.
Participants had also the opportunity to meet with representants from the faculties and with some student organisations, such as the International Student Club, but also AIESEC and Student Union.
Our intention was also to show our international colleagues the beauty of our town and the South Bohemian region: they enjoyed some time at the Christmas market in České Budějovice, listened to organ music in the St. Nicolas´ Cathedral, and also discovered the magnificent UNESCO town of Český Krumlov and the world famous Budvar Brewery in České Budějovice.
