Programme structure
The study is conducted under the guidance of a supervisor according to an individual study plan, which is drawn up annually in agreement between the student and the supervisor. The main focus of the study is aimed at the preparation of the dissertation and at advanced theoretical preparation. Students are involved in teaching at the Department of English Studies, they participate in conferences and in grant and publication projects. The study has a strong international dimension, and includes a research stay at a foreign institution.

How to apply
Completion of a Master's degree in English and American Literature or a related field.
- Completion of the admissions interview, the aim of which is to verify the applicant's knowledge of the field and the skills necessary for the study, primarily the ability to work independently as a scholar, and to evaluate the applicant's PhD research project (together with the application, the applicant will submit the research project and the bibliography of scholarly sources they have studied in relation to the project).
- The applicants are also expected to present their previous research interests and results (MA thesis, publications, international experience).
- It is necessary for the admission of the applicant that the Department of English is able to provide a supervisor with appropriate qualifications for the submitted doctoral project. For this reason, applicants are advised to consult the doctoral project in advance with the head of the Advisory Board of the programme.
