Science and Research Office
The Science and Research Office, managed by the Vice-Rector for Science and Research, ensures the professional and administrative agenda related to the university's scientific research activities, particularly:
- Provides methodological guidance and support to USB employees involved in the science and research agenda;
- Organizes and ensures the preparation, publication, and dissemination of USB's scientific research strategies and policies;
- Ensures and organizes meetings of the USB Scientific Board;
- Secures the university-wide agenda of habilitation procedures and procedures for appointment as professor;
- Maintains records of fields in which USB is authorized to conduct habilitation procedures and procedures for appointment as professor, including records of accreditation applications and communication with the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education;
- Ensures administrative and organizational activities related to awarding honorary degrees of doctor honoris causa and professor honoris causa, as well as the appointment of emeritus, visiting, and extraordinary professors at USB;
- Administratively and organizationally ensures the agenda of USB Research Awards;
- Ensures the administrative operation of the USB Grant Agency;
- Administers competition for small, research-related projects supported by the long-term conceptual development of research organization (LCDRO);
- Administers the agenda of university postdoctoral positions supported by the LCDRO;
- Ensures the agenda of Czech and foreign science and research projects and communication with providers at the central level – see the Methodological Instruction of the Bursar K 158 (Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, The Czech Science Foundation, The International Visegrad Fund , Specific higher education research (USB Grant Agency), international projects such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and LIFE, INTER-EXCELLENCE II, Large Research Infrastructures, Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic – NAZV, Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic – AZV, Ministry of Culture – NAKI, Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other scientific and research projects);
- Coordinates the agenda of submitting grant applications as well as interim and final reports of grant projects;
- Serves as the contact point for USB for communication with The European Food Safety Activity (EFSA), The Czech Science Foundation, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic - NAZV;
- Registers and administers USB membership in foreign databases (e.g., Pador, NATO, in preparation SAM.GOV);
- Serves as USB's LEAR (Legal Entity Appointed Representative) for the "Funding and tender opportunities" portal – Horizon Europe projects and EU projects submitted through this portal;
- Prepares materials and provides information from the science and research area to individual faculties;
- Collects and processes data related to scientific and research activities to evaluate these activities at USB, including administrative support for the evaluation of results in Module 1 according to Methodology 2017+;
- Prepares materials for situational reports and analyses in the area of creative activities and grant activities for USB needs or external bodies;
- Monitors and records USB's involvement in national and international science and research grant projects and competitions;
- Performs other tasks related to the operation of the department according to the instructions of the Vice-Rector for Science and Research.
