The USB Rector awarded 21 personalities. Among them are students, professors and long-time employees of the university
The University of South Bohemia entered the new Academic Year 2024/2025 on Tuesday 1 October. In his opening speech, the USB Rector Pavel Kozák outlined the changes, investments and challenges that await the University in the coming months. Among them, for example, the opening of the renovated auditorium, the planned reconstruction of the canteen, and the revitalisation of the campus at a cost of almost CZK 100 million in the spirit of sustainability. He also mentioned important projects and partnerships, such as KreativEU, in which the JU will newly join, thus placing it alongside other major European universities. He wants to focus a lot of attention and support on the quality of science and research - it is thanks to their high level that USB became a member of the Association of Research Universities this year.
The Rector wished all students and employees good luck and strength for the new academic year and awarded 21 personalities for their scientific and pedagogical work, some of them for their jubilee years (40, 50 years) spent at the University of South Bohemia.
Thus, the University expressed not only its gratitude to the awarded scientists and teachers but also its support in their free research and advocacy of often topical issues towards the public beyond the university boundaries.
The Mayor of České Budějovice, Dagmar Škodová Parmová, and the Vice-Chairman of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Zdeněk Havlas, also expressed their support for USB by their presence at the opening ceremony of the new academic year.
