CV

I have taught English at the College of Education at the University of South Bohemia since 2006. My research is mostly limited to 19th and 20th century American literature, with a particular focus on fiction by minorities from the United States (novels and short stories by African/Jewish/Hispanic -Americans).  I regularly present papers at conferences in the Czech Republic; some articles and book reviews have been published in conference proceedings or journals such as:

Another publishing area is geared in a more practical way to the English language learner: I co-authored Step-by-Step - Angličtina pro samouky (Plzeň: Naklad. Fraus 2002, 2007); from 2011 to 2017 I edited ATECR Newsletter: Journal of English Language Teaching (the official publication of the Association of the Teachers of English of the Czech Republic) and guest-edited issues of the journal Litteraria Pragensia (2011 and 2015) and currently serve on the board (Širší ediční rada) at the Pedagogical Faculty Press of University of South Bohemia.

I have taught summer courses abroad at:

  • Mitrovica University (Republic of Kosovo) in 2013
  • Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv, Ukraine) in 2015.
