About the programme

The aim of the degree programme is to prepare graduates for administrative and managerial functions in the state administration, local government and non-profit organizations focused on management issues of regional development. The students' knowledge of the basic theoretical and methodological subjects, but also professional training and skills within the field are strengthened in order to prepare students for practice. Graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the qualified performance of administrative activities and professions in the field of regional development, including the digitalization of public administration. The degree programme also emphasises the European context of regional development. Some profiling subjects are also offered to full-time students in English.

Programme structure

  • The curriculum reflects the need for graduates to have the analytical and practical skills to be able to apply them in practice. Regular teaching is complemented by lectures from practice by eminent guests.
  • The course is taught by a wide range of visiting experts from both the public and private sectors.
  • The degree programme can be studied in both full-time and combined forms.
  • For the combined form of study, a complete set of teaching aids is prepared in the LMS Moodle environment.
  • An important fact is the possibility for students to participate in the creation of strategic documents of cooperating towns and municipalities. Upon the approval of the strategic document by the municipal council, the student receives a confirmation of co-authorship from the city or municipality.

Graduate profile

    The graduate of the Regional Development Management programme has a basic knowledge of economics, economic policy and economic geography, with an emphasis on regional and local subsystems (Microeconomics I and Macroeconomics I, Economic Policy, Regional Economics 1, Regional Management 1d), is able to systematise and analyse current problems of public administration (course Public Administration), has basic knowledge of the legislative environment of public administration (subject Administrative law), has a basic knowledge of e-government (subject e-Government), is familiar with management methods applied in public administration (subject Management), is able to apply theoretical knowledge in the preparation of professional documents for decision-making of public administration subjects (subject Regional Management 1), knows how to evaluate and create strategic documents necessary for the management of the region (subject Strategic documents in public in strategic management), understands the system of public revenue collection and the principles of its allocation for the support of regional development (subjects Public Finance, Financing from transnational sources, Evaluation of public procurement), is familiar with the basic methods and techniques of regional analysis and strategies using relevant information and software systems (subjects Theory of Probability and Statistics 1, Fundamentals of Accounting, Comparison of Regional Indicators, Geographical Information Systems 1), is able to make decisions about the use of the region's resources based on the link between economic and demographic context (course Fundamentals of Demography, Economic Geography), has at least one foreign language at B2 level
    Graduate destinations include:

  • methodology specialist in public administration,
  • manager in regional and non-profit institutions.

How to apply

Admissions without the need to take an entrance exam. The ranking of applicants is determined on the basis of the average grade in high school. Information on the current admission procedure is available here.
