About the programme

The study program Finance and Accounting is suitable for applicants interested in the issue of financial decision-making in various sectors of human activity, for those who want to penetrate the exciting and, at the same time, very useful issue of accounting and its use for the financial management of companies and organisations, for those applicants who want to look into the issue of financial analysis, investment decision-making, assessment of financial health and taxation. Why do some companies go bankrupt, and others are successful? Why even a good idea may not yet be a successfully implemented business plan? What role do finances play in business success? The study program will allow a very good understanding of the functioning of companies and organisations in the environment of an internationally open economy with significant state interventions and factors influencing profit creation and market value, which are fundamental factors for the successful application of graduates, whether in the role of employee or the position of entrepreneur developing its own business. The study program is for those applicants who want to understand the laws and interconnections of the economic system.
The bachelor?s study program in Finance and Accounting is adapted for applicants from business academies and other types of secondary schools, including grammar schools.
The study aims to prepare graduates of bachelor?s studies for application mainly in the corporate sector, i.e. in the economic departments of private companies, especially in the field of finance and accounting, but also in the government sector, e.g. in financial offices, financial departments of regions and municipalities, state and local government-owned companies, and last but not least also in financial market institutions, especially in the banking sector, leasing companies, insurance companies, etc.

Programme structure

  • The study program Finance and Accounting is implemented following the needs of the corporate sector, financial institutions, and the government sector. Emphasis is placed on issues that significantly contribute to the employability of graduates in the labour market. These are mainly practices used in financing, investing, financial analysis, taxation, accounting, and reporting, which are common in EU countries.
  • Regular teaching is enriched by several extraordinary lectures by significant visiting experts from other universities, professional organisations, the corporate sector, the banking sector, and state institutions.
  • The study plan is designed to create the best prerequisites for continuing in the follow-up master?s study of the same program at EF JU, which continues mainly in the areas of corporate finance, financial markets, international finance, public finance, managerial accounting, international accounting standards, and auditing.
  • For graduates, an important factor is the compatibility of the study plan with the requirements of the professional organisation Union of Accountants in the Czech Republic through the System of Certification and Education of Accountants in the Czech Republic. For successful graduates of the program, there is a possibility of recognition of selected exams within the Certification of Accountants in the Czech Republic.
  • The study program is also officially certified by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), and students can have selected exams recognised within this system.
  • As part of the study, it is possible to go abroad and complete some subjects at foreign universities.

Graduate profile

    Graduates will be able to work with information in the field of financing, investment and taxation, prepare and analyse accounting information, create short- and long-term financial plans for companies and organisations, perform financial control activities and fulfill the obligations of tax entities.

How to apply

Admissions without the need to take an entrance exam. The ranking of applicants is determined on the basis of the average grade in high school. Information on the current admission procedure is available here.
