About the programme

The study aims to prepare graduates for application mainly in the corporate sector, i.e. in the economic departments of private companies, especially in the field of finance and accounting, but also in the government sector, e.g. in financial offices, financial departments of regions and municipalities, state and local government-owned companies, and last but not least also in financial market institutions, especially in the banking sector, leasing companies, insurance companies, etc.
  • The study programme builds on the knowledge of listeners gained from the bachelor´s study of the study programme Finance and Accounting at EF JU or related study programmes at other universities.
  • For graduates, an important factor is the compatibility of the study plan with the requirements of the professional organisation Union of Accountants in the Czech Republic through the System of Certification and Education of Accountants in the Czech Republic. For successful graduates of the programme, there is a possibility of recognition of selected exams within the Certification of Accountants in the Czech Republic.
  • The study programme is also officially certified by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), and students can have selected exams recognised within this system.

Programme structure

The study prepares very well methodically equipped graduates capable of independent decision-making in accounting and finance, with sufficient knowledge of theory and practical procedures and current professional knowledge and skills.
  • Emphasis is also placed on issues that significantly contribute to the employability of graduates in the international labour market. These are mainly international accounting standards, international finance, financial markets, financial analysis methods, and financial management practices common in multinational companies.
  • The composition of the study plan reflects the need for computational and analytical skills of graduates so that they can use a wide range of statistical-mathematical methods to support decision-making.
  • In addition to teaching theoretical knowledge, emphasis is also placed on practically oriented subjects, which expand and perfect students' skills, especially in accounting, finance, taxation, and corporate information systems (SAP). These subjects are included in response to the needs of employers and allow flexible responses to dynamic development in finance, accounting, and taxes.
  • Regular teaching is enriched by several extraordinary lectures by significant visiting experts from other universities, professional organisations, the corporate sector, the banking sector, and state institutions.

Graduate profile

    Graduates will be able to analyse and evaluate economic and financial data, understand the development of individual sectors of the economy or the impact of economic developments on companies and organisations, work with knowledge that will enable them to find a job in the international labour market in the corporate, financial (especially in banking) and government sectors (state and local government).
    Graduate destinations include:
  • financial and investment analyst,
  • financial controller,
  • leading controlling specialist,
  • financial manager,
  • financial accountant,
  • chief accountant,
  • IFRS specialist.

How to apply

The condition for admission to study is successful completion of the entrance examination in the subjects of Economics, Finance and Accounting and Taxation within, the scope of the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree. Information on the current admission procedure is available here.
