About the programme

The aim of the degree programme is to deepen students' knowledge in the field of economics, economics and management and to prepare graduates especially for the management of their own business or for demanding management functions, especially in the corporate sector. To build students' global perspective in the field of business and to further develop the skills and abilities to plan and implement business activities. To develop skills in building competitive advantage in a dynamic global market environment. To enhance knowledge and skills in business management and economics, as well as in the various business functions through compulsory electives.

Programme structure

The degree programme Economics and Management in its follow-up master's degree provides students in the compulsory part of their studies with a deepening of knowledge in relation to the strategic management of enterprises and the development of knowledge and skills within individual corporate functions. The student complements his/her studies according to his/her interests and priorities, especially in the choice of subjects leading to the selection of the compulsory elective state final examination - business and marketing or quantitative methods in economics and management. Emphasis is placed on active forms of the study process, which lead to the acquisition of practical skills of students by linking theoretical teaching with the participation of experts from practice, solving case studies or project-based learning.

Graduate profile

    The graduate of the Economics and Management programme in the follow-up Master's degree will deepen his/her knowledge in the areas of economics, strategic management, finance, investment decision-making and human resources management in the corporate environment. Attention is also paid to the application of quantitative methods in management. Graduates of the Economics and Management programme are able to understand the business environment independently and in teamwork, recognise and utilise market opportunities, solve problems creatively, set strategic marketing goals and plans, make rational decisions, apply theoretical knowledge to practice, communicate in both the native and English languages, and evaluate information qualitatively and quantitatively. Through the compulsory elective courses in blocks A1 and A2, students can further develop their knowledge of business and marketing, quantitative methods in economics and management, and computer science. They can also improve their knowledge of English or develop their knowledge of another foreign language from the Department of Languages. The programme prepares graduates for leadership positions, working with information, communication and teamwork at middle and senior management levels in companies across the full spectrum of the business environment.
    Graduate destinations include:
  • middle and senior management positions within basic corporate functions,
  • positions of professional specialists in the field of quality management, trade, marketing and economic analysis,
  • junior and, after gaining experience, senior positions in the management of national and multinational companies,
  • managerial and professional positions within economics, marketing, retail and wholesale, or analytical departments.

How to apply

A condition of admission to study is successful completion of the entrance examination in the subjects Economics, Management in the scope of the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree. Successful completion of the bachelor's degree programme in Economics and Management at the FE USB with a study average specified in the valid measure of the Dean may be considered as fulfilling the conditions of the admission procedure.
