About the programme

The aim of the professionally oriented Bachelor's degree programme in Tourism is to prepare flexible and well methodically equipped, economically, business and marketing oriented managers in a corporate perceived system tourism.

Programme structure

The curriculum sets out the basic theoretical subjects of the degree programme. The subjects are:
  • economics (Microeconomics I, Macroeconomics I, Economics of Enterprise)
  • management (Management)
  • mathematics and statistics (Mathematics seminar, Probability Theory and Statistics 1)
    The subjects of the profiling basis of the degree programme are based on the field of marketing due to the need to correctly create tourism products, offer them to customers and sell them (Marketing and Marketing Research).
    The subjects of the profiling basis in the field of tourism are introduced by studying the subject Tourism, where theoretical approaches to tourism are analysed and then the comparison of these approaches with each other and the confrontation with practical perception is carried out. It analyses the systems theory, the impact of tourism on the environment, with special emphasis on the economic but also social role of the whole system. The course in Tourism Products builds on what has already been covered and provides a detailed breakdown and analysis of the different types of tourism and defines the basic products of each sector. The course lays the foundations for other courses in the field of marketing and management. The course also demonstrates the wide range of future employment opportunities for students and is thus important for their choice of practice. Tourism Geography explains the link between natural attractions and tourism. In the course Travel Agency Management, students learn more about the tourism product market, the creation of tourism products and the specifics of managing travel agencies at different stages of their life cycle.
  • The offer of studying tourism issues is extended by other subjects. Urban and Rural Tourism analyses the two major components and shows the current perception of the two opposites of tourism, but also addresses the common problems that constrain contemporary tourism. It also complements the knowledge that students of tourism should have due to their erudition in the field. The subject Geographical analysis of the micro-region, in which the course models the elaboration of the analytical part of the micro-region strategy. The teaching includes practical mastery of data collection tools in the field. The student(s) independently processes the assigned tasks in a GIS environment (ArcGIS Pro, Insights, Survey123, Quick Capture) and discusses the results in each class.
  • The subject Hotel and Catering builds on the knowledge from the subject Management, introduces the specifics of the individual activities and job roles of accommodation and food service enterprises and their interrelationships. At the end of the study, students deal with Tourism Product Marketing, in which all studied subjects are connected and that deals with the business and marketing side and Destination Management and Marketing, where experts from practice explain the specifics of the management and marketing of a tourism destination.
  • The subject Geographical analysis of the microregion offers a comprehensive exploration of geographical analysis, with a specific focus on micro-regional strategy development. Students will gain hands-on experience in collecting and processing geospatial data using advanced GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro, Insights, Survey123, Quick Capture).
  • The subject Tourism Development Planning is designed to provide students with the requisite theoretical knowledge and practical skills for spatial planning of tourism development within urban and municipal contexts. Students will be introduced to advanced spatial analysis techniques, with a particular emphasis on spatial and regulatory planning, including zoning regulations and construction management procedures, such as building permit acquisition and compliance with government regulations.

    Graduates will be able to understand the business, marketing and management of tourism and destination management, to analyse and utilise business opportunities and understand the latest trends and modern technologies in this sector.

How to apply
