Respectful to the planet, sustainable for the future - USB participates in the European Sustainable Development Week and plans to revitalize the campus
Respectful to the planet, sustainable for the future - JU participates in the European Sustainable Development Week and plans to revitalize the campus.
Healthy meals in the refectory, swaps, lectures, workshops and exhibitions - all this throughout the week at the University of South Bohemia, which for the second time joined the European Sustainable Development Week alongside other public universities. At SAU, the topic of sustainability and socially responsible behaviour has long been perceived as key, even when planning major investments. Next year, the university campus will also undergo a major transformation.
A pond, green roofs, sports facilities, benches and other elements that will improve the microclimate, contribute to biodiversity and create a healthier and more sustainable environment for students, staff and the public. The project to revitalise the University of South Bohemia's campus in České Budějovice is supported by the Integrated Regional Operational Programme of the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic. The investment, worth almost CZK 100 million, is planned with climate change in mind. Water features, trees and flower beds will be added to the campus to cool the environment and create an urban space for relaxation and sports activities.
"The project will significantly contribute to JU's goals, which are strongly oriented towards sustainability and socially responsible behaviour with elements of a SMART university. The intention of a "green" campus appropriately complements already implemented activities such as the installation of power plants on university buildings, electric mobility or the introduction of new study programmes oriented towards sustainability. JU sees great sense in these activities and we are already preparing other projects of similar focus," says the bursar of the University of South Bohemia Michal Hojdekr.
The campus of the University of South Bohemia will undergo a "blue-green" transformation in the period 2025 - 2026.
