Zdeněk Pecka graduated from the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia, majoring in German - Bohemian Studies, in 2000.

In 2000-2001 he worked as a lecturer of Czech language and literature at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar.

He received his doctorate in 2009 at the University of Vienna with a dissertation on the Austrian author Thomas Bernhard.

In 2023 he finished his habilitation at the Institute of German, Nordic and Non-Dermanic Studies of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno with the thesis "Code und Kontext. Digitales Erzählen aus Österreich".

Zdeněk Pecka is an associate professor at the Department of German Studies, PF JU. He focuses on recent and new literature written in German, on Austrian literature, literature in new media, reading skills and the didactization of literature.
